| Purpose/Function | Act 858 of the 1981 Legislature abolished approximately 19 special game and fish commissions including the Cocodrie Lake Game and Fish Commission which governed Cocodrie Lake. Authorities for lakes & structures were transferred to LDWF. However, parish government under state law can select/appoint a panel of interested/concerned citizens to serve on committees in an advisory capacity to the jury. The Cocodrie Lake Commission fills that role with respect to fish and wildlife issues on Cocodrie Lake. |

| Notes | Recommendations made by LDWF to the Rapides and Evangeline parish police juries and the Cocodrie Lake commission/advisory board, to drawdown the lake beginning January 1, 2018 through August 31, 2018 for five consecutive years. This is to reduce the growth of giant salvinia that encompasses approximately 60 percent of the lake. After 5 years of failed attempts, LDWF implemented a 3 year drawdown that began in June 2023. No meetings in 2023 Three meetings held in 2024 to discuss future drawdown plans. |
