| Purpose/Function | In 1984, the Louisiana Medical Radiation Health and Safety Act, R.S. 37:3200 through R.S. 37:3221, provided that, to safeguard life and health by preventing excessive and improper exposure to ionizing radiation, any person practicing or offering to practice as a radiologic technologist in this state shall submit evidence that they are qualified to do so and shall be allowed to practice as a radiologic technologist. The Board of examiners has the regulatory authority responsible for examining, permitting, licensing and regulating qualified applicants as Radiologic technologists and to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public from the misuse of ionizing radiation. This pertains to both diagnostic and therapeutic uses of ionizing radiation. |
| Budget Message | We attempt to be as frugal as possible and to limit spending as much as possible. In the 2025 year, there was an increase in operating expenses for IT services and legal services for the assistance of non-compliance of licensees; a third employee was also hired to assist with office operations. The future outlook of the board is stable. |
