| Purpose/Function | The board is responsible for protecting all persons who use and rely upon plumbing and medical gas piping systems, natural gas systems for personal or commercial needs, and for affording protection against incompetent, inexperienced, or unlawful acts by persons who perform work on plumbing, natural gas and medical gas piping systems. The board qualifies and examines applicants for plumbers' licenses and serves, licenses, and enforces the law. |
| Budget Message | The Board's major concern regarding the budget fiscal years -2013/2014 & 2014/2015 and future budgets are: the absence of a fee increase since the very early 1990's. The Board feels that it is imperative that this issue be addressed for the future sustainability of the Board. The Board in recent years has done more with less. i.e. closure of New Orleans Administrative office, increase in enforcement officers without any increase in expenditures, reduction of administrative office personnel with limited funding, implementation of continued professional education, and acquisition of Board vehicle through cooperative endeavor agreements.
