| Purpose/Function | Provide flood protection for large portion of Northeast Louisiana (8 parishes). Construct, operate and maintain flood control structures including 250 miles of levee, 361 miles of flood control channels, 188 floodgates, 7 storm water pumping stations and 15 dams(weirs). Regulate and permit all activity on or near these flood control works. Maintenance includes mowing levee, repairing levees with earth moving equipment, dredging channels, spraying channels for brush control, mechanical repairs to pumping plants, flood gates, heave equipment, etc.. |
