| Purpose/Function | The purpose of this Board is the protection of the health, safety, and general welfare of citizens dealing with persons engaged in the contracting vocation, and affording citizens an effective and practical protection against incompetent, inexperienced, unlawful, and fraudulent acts of contractors with whom they contract. The Board also monitors construction projects to ensure compliance with the statutory and regulatory licensure requirements. |
| Budget Message | Given the unprecedented economic downturn during the Covid-19 crisis in 2020 and 2021, along with three hurricanes striking Louisiana (Laura and Delta - 2020, Ida - 2021), the LA State Licensing Board for Contractors continues to maintain a strong financial footing. This has been made possible due to the great constraints exhibited by the guidance of the Executive Director and Board Administrator, the Board, and all of the staff that work at the LA State Licensing Board for Contractors. These shared goals are expressed each year in our budget. It spells out our needs, priorities, and sets in motion the initiatives and corrective measures that will keep us on a fiscally sound course and ensure that we will run this agency in a fiscally responsible way. |

| Notes | The State Licensing Board for Contractors is composed of 19 members appointed by the Governor. There also exists a 5-member Residential Subcommittee of the Licensing Board whose members are appointed by the Governor. Additionally, the Chairman of the Commercial Board appoints a Chairman and Vice Chairman from the Commercial Board. The LSLBC Fiscal Period follows a calendar year; for that reason, information is entered and updated thereafter. Length of Service for Members is updated annually on July 1st. |
