Purpose/Function The Louisiana Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) was established by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to support the efforts of our citizens with disabilities to live independently in the community of their choice. Some of the specific duties of the Statewide Independent Living Council are: •Jointly develop a State Plan for Independent Living •Monitor, review, and evaluate implementation of the state plan •Develop strong positive partnerships with the Louisiana Rehabilitation Council and other disability community

Notes The Interagency Cooperative Agreement (IAT) signed between The Office of the Governor, Office of Disability Affairs and the Louisiana Workforce Commission, and Louisiana Rehabilitation Services entered into the 2014-2015 Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) for the purpose of providing administrative oversight, staffing and funding for the SILC.
