Notes National Scenic Byway grants were discontinued in 2015. In 2021, $22 million dollars of federal highway funds were appropriated for byway grants. There is no way to know if byways will receive federal grant funding in the future.

With the last round of byway grants, the Federal Highway Administration changed its process. Only DOTD is allowed to receive, review and submit federal byway grants. The Louisiana Byway Commission was established to assist in this effort which is no longer a responsibility.

Designation and de-designation of byways is another responsibility of the commission. The Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of Tourism, Scenic Byway Program assumes responsibility for this. It has guidelines in place to de-designate inactive byways or byways that no longer maintain their intrinsic qualities and visitor experiences.

It is inactive.
