Minutes of the March 12, 2025 meeting
Grant Parish Police Jury Meeting Room
Grant Parish Courthouse 

President Gordon Smith called the meeting to order. 
Members present were Gordon Smith and Bill Dean. Fren Allen was absent.

Also present were Jarmarquis Torrence of DOTD and Clerk Fran Demers.

The minutes of the February 12, 2025 meeting were approved as read, with Bill Dean making the motion and seconded by Gordon Smith.

Mr. Smith and Mr. Dean discussed the cooperative agreement with the Grant Parish Police Jury that was present to the Levee Board for signing. Mr. Dean said he had discussed the matter with Grant Parish Police Jurors Cephas Bowie Jr. regarding the terms of the agreement and said he felt preventative maintenance would keep the levee road in good order. Mr. Smith said the traffic on river road was mainly residents of the area and farmers using the road, and people with camps along the river. He commented that it was the job of the Levee Board to see that the levee was maintained as a protection against the river. 

Mr. Smith and Mr. Dean then signed the agreement in front of witnesses and returned the signed agreement to the police jury office.

Mr. Smith said he was contacting Southern Heritage Bank the next day regarding the board’s certificate of deposit which had just come up for renewal.

Jarmarquis Torrence of DOTD said he had nothing to report.

Aaron Slayter Jr. a property owner on River Rouge Road had previously requested to be on the agenda but was not able to attend the meeting.

There being no further business to come before the board, Mr. Dean made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Smith.
