The Legal Affairs Division of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) processes adjudicatory hearing requests by persons to whom DEQ has issued enforcement and permit actions pursuant to R.S.30:2050.4, R.S.30:2024 and LAC33:I.317.
Please send all requests to the attention of the "DEQ Clerk." Requests can be mailed, faxed with an original following by mail, or hand-delivered. If you need a date-stamped copy for your records, please mail or hand-deliver the appropriate number of copies (along with a self-addressed stamped envelope for those requests submitted by mail).
For those requests that are hand-delivered, please see the Security guard located on the 1st floor of the Galvez Building and let them know that you need to file a document with the Legal Affairs Division. The DEQ Clerk, or designated legal staff member, will come to meet you and will date-stamp your document(s) and receive it for filing. Due to the time sensitive nature of the requests, please do not place the documents in the drop-box.
The attorneys in the Legal Section cannot provide legal advice. Please see the appropriate law or regulation concerning the aforementioned requests which may be accessed through the "Title 33 Environmental Regulatory Code".
