Armed Robbery Fugitive Captured in New Orleans by LBI

For Release On:

July 12, 2017

NEW ORLEANS: Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) has arrested a New Orleans man wanted for an armed robbery committed in Hammond.

“Over the last several months, we have worked closely with the Hammond Police Department to make over 100 arrests for crimes ranging from armed robbery to the illegal carrying of weapons.” said General Landry. “This recent arrest takes another alleged violent criminal off Louisiana’s streets.”

Jermaine White, 18 of New Orleans, was arrested by the LBI on July 6, 2017, for armed robbery. The investigation into White was initiated by the Hammond Police Department. When he could not be located, the LBI opened a fugitive investigation and located White on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. White attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended by the LBI. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison as a fugitive from the Hammond Police Department.

“Fighting crime takes a multi-dimensional approach, and we appreciate the continued partnership from our local law enforcement partners to make this approach a reality,” said General Landry. “Our office is always pleased when we can work in collaboration with our law enforcement partners to combat crime and make our communities safer.”

“I, like Attorney General Landry, believe interagency cooperation is a force multiplier and enables effective law enforcement,” said Hammond Police Chief James Stewart. “The efforts and initiative of the LBI were greatly appreciated.”
