Governor Edwards Declares June Homeownership Month

BATON ROUGE: Governor John Bel Edwards issued a proclamation today declaring June Homeownership Month in Louisiana. During Homeownership Month, the benefits of owning a home are recognized as an integral part of building stronger families and communities.

"Homeownership is a vital part in achieving the American Dream, and we are committed to helping all Louisianans reach that goal," said Governor John Bel Edwards. "The Louisiana Housing Corporation is bringing together private and public partners to assist families in becoming homeowners and enhancing the ability of our people and our state to bounce back even stronger when faced with challenges."

"We see our role as a bridge to home ownership. Our goal is to educate potential homeowners about the process of becoming a homeowner as well as give them the resources and tools to reach that goal," says E. Keith Cunningham, Jr., Executive Director, Louisiana Housing Corporation. He also added, "As an agency, we work hard to provide services for Louisiana residents to reach the goal of homeownership".

Louisiana Housing Corporation, in collaboration with its partners, is hosting a Make Your House A Home Event on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2415 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The free event will feature special guest speakers and information on how low- to-moderate income homebuyers can achieve the American Dream of owning a home.
