Gov. Edwards Announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

Baton Rouge: Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

Gov. Edwards announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:

 

Louisiana State Board of Nursing
The Louisiana State Board of Nursing is responsible for safeguarding the life and health of Louisiana residents through the regulation of persons practicing or offering to practice as registered nurses. The board also establishes minimum curriculum requirements and approves nursing schools.

Laura S. Bonanno, of Mandeville, was reappointed to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Ms. Bonanno is the nurse anesthesia program director at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. She was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Nurse Anesthetists and will represent other areas of practice, as required by statute.

Jacqueline J. Hill, Ph.D., of Zachary, was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Dr. Hill is an associate professor and department chair at Southern University and A&M College. She was nominated by the Louisiana State Nurses Association and will serve as a nurse educator.

 

Louisiana State Board of Dentistry
The mission of the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry is to protect the public by regulating the professions of dentistry and dental hygiene in Louisiana in accordance with the Dental Practice Act.

Isaac A. “Ike” House, D.D.S., of Haughton, was reappointed to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. Dr. House is a dentist and the owner of House Family Dentistry. As required by statute, he was nominated by and will serve as a representative of the 7th Dental Board District.

 

Louisiana Lottery Corporation
The Louisiana Lottery Corporation approves the operating budget and the terms of major procurements of the corporation, serves as a board of appeal regarding retailer contracts and adopts administrative rules in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act necessary for the operations of the corporation.

Larry C. Cager Sr., of New Orleans, was appointed to the Louisiana Lottery Corporation. Mr. Cager is the chief deputy clerk for the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court and will serve as a representative of the 2nd Congressional District.

 

State Licensing Board of Contractors
The purpose of the State Licensing Board of Contractors is the protection of the health, safety, and general welfare of citizens dealing with persons engaged in the contracting vocation, and affording citizens an effective and practical protection against incompetent, inexperienced, unlawful and fraudulent acts of contractors with whom they contract. The Board also monitors construction projects to ensure compliance with the statutory and regulatory licensure requirements.

Noah “N.R.” Broussard Jr., of Abbeville, was reappointed to the State Licensing Board of Contractors. Mr. Broussard is the president of Broussard Brothers, Inc. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Oil Field Contractors Association, Inc., and will serve as a representative of oilfield construction.

August Raymond Gallo Jr., of New Orleans, was reappointed to the State Licensing Board of Contractors. Mr. Gallo is the chairman of the board of Gallo Mechanical, LLC. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Louisiana, Inc., and will serve as a representative of mechanical construction.

 

Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council
The primary function of the council is to review and adopt the state uniform construction code, provide training and education of code officials, and accept all requests for amendments of the code, except the Louisiana State Plumbing Code. Specifically, the council establishes the requirements and process for the certification and continuing education of code enforcement officers, code enforcement inspectors, third party providers and building officials and determines whether amendments to the state uniform construction code are justified.

Martin W. Campbell, of Ball, was appointed to the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council. Mr. Campbell is a multi-trades inspector for the city of Alexandria.

 

Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy
The Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy is responsible for the licensure, registration, investigation, and regulation of persons practicing as massage therapists within the state. The board may establish continuing education requirements for massage therapists.

Mary G. Bel, of Roseland, was appointed to the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy. Ms. Bel is a self-employed licensed massage therapist and will serve as a licensed massage therapist on the board.

Antoinette V. Joseph, of Lafayette, was appointed to the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy. Ms. Joseph is a massage instructor and licensed massage therapist at Blue Cliff College. As required by statute, she was nominated by professional massage therapy and bodywork associations and will serve as a licensed massage therapist on the board.

James E. Steele, of Zachary, was appointed to the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy. Mr. Steele is an investigator for the East Baton Rouge District Attorney. As required by statute, he was nominated by professional massage therapy and bodywork associations and will serve as a lay person on the board.

 

Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority
The Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority has the power to provide financial assistance to the Louisiana agricultural community. It has financed, constructed, and owns most of the office buildings and supporting facilities utilized by the Department of Agriculture.

Harold “Marcell” Parker Jr., of Independence, was reappointed to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority. Mr. Parker is the vice president of Louisiana Land Bank. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives.

 

Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation
The Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation is a nonprofit organization created to provide insurance products for residential and commercial property applicants who are in good faith entitled, but unable, to procure insurance through the voluntary insurance marketplace.

A. Eugene Montgomery III, of Monroe, was reappointed to the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. Mr. Montgomery is the president, chief executive officer, and director of Community Financial Insurance Center. As required by statute, he was nominated by and will serve as a representative of the Louisiana Bankers Association.

 

State Parks and Recreation Commission
The State Parks and Recreation Commission promotes the goals and objectives of the Office of State Parks, acts in an advisory capacity to the Office and screens qualified projects for federal grants administered by the Office.

David J. Camardelle, of Grand Isle, was reappointed to the State Parks and Recreation Commission. Mayor Camardelle is the mayor of Grand Isle and will serve as an at-large member on the commission.

 

Clinical Laboratory Personnel Committee
The Clinical Laboratory Personnel Committee serves to make recommendations to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners regarding rules and regulations for the appropriate training and competency of clinical laboratory personnel who are engaged in the practice of clinical laboratory science in a clinical laboratory operated by a physician licensed by the board exclusively in connection with the diagnosis and treatment of his own patients.

Deborah S. Burris, of Bossier City, was appointed to the Clinical Laboratory Personnel Committee. Ms. Burris is a cytology supervisor with The Delta Pathology Group. As required by statute, she was nominated by the Clinical Laboratory Personnel Association and will serve as a cytotechnologist on the committee.

 

Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District
The mission of the Capital Area Ground Water Conservation District is to provide for the efficient administration, conservation, orderly development, and supplementation of groundwater resources in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana. The board develops, promotes, and implements management strategies to provide for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharging and prevention of waste of the groundwater resources over which it has jurisdictional authority.

James Matthew Reonas, of Baton Rouge, was reappointed to the Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District. Mr. Reonas is a marketing representative for the Louisiana Office of Conservation and will serve as its representative on the board.

Ronnie Albritton, of Zachary, was reappointed to the Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District. Mr. Albritton is an environmental manager with Georgia Pacific. As required by statute, he was nominated by and will serve as a representative of Georgia Pacific, an industrial user within the district.
